Three people have been rushed to at Kyebando Health Center IV fighting for their lives after being injured when Mbaya Runaku stream burst its banks, sweeping away a yet to be established number of Kisalizi primary school pupils in Kyebando Sub County, Kibaale district who were crossing today afternoon.
The fast running waters of the swampy stream has also swept away crops and several domestic animals that were grazing.
Mbaya Runaku stream that separates Kyebando and Kasimbi Sub Counties has submerged the Kibaale-Kyebando-Kasimbi-Pachwa trunk road that cuts through to Pachwa of Kagadi district.
Residents who were found at the scene today afternoon say that a group of young pupils from Kisalizi parents’ primary school were crossing enroute back home at a round 1pm when the stream incidentally burst its banks causing floods as it also swept away the papyrus.
